I saw a DIY store (Menards) the use of brick retaining wall blocks to keep exposure to a metal ring in the store. I think it means that you can use.
I think what they said that stones, when it has water in bags and can explode if heated to boiling. Bricks are not likely to have pockets of water. However, the rule can break bricks with extreme heat, but heat will probably reach a fire, it should be no problem.
